How does your Corporate Philanthropy program work? |
The profits that we make through selling virtual candles on www.mycandles.org will be used by our Corporate Philanthropy Program to help registered charities provide vital services to those in need. Our Corporate Philanthropy Program gives exclusively to pre-vetted, registered charities. If you have a specific charity that you would like us to support you can suggest it by completing the form on our Charities page. It costs $1 (or local currency equivalent) to light each candle on www.mycandles.org. Candles will burn for a year. From each $1 that you pay, we receive a maximum of 90% (there is a 10% transaction fee, and sometimes currency exchange fees). From the money we receive, we deduct our operating costs and the remaining money is directed to our Corporate Philanthropy Program. In the first few months of operation, the amount given through our Corporate Philanthropy Program will be a minimum of 50% of the price you pay for each candle lit. However, as the number of candles grows we believe that this will dramatically increase as our costs can be spread over a larger group of individual candles. We believe that within a short period of time our Corporate Philanthropy Program will be able to direct 75% of the price you pay per candle to our chosen charities. Our Corporate Philanthropy Program will send funds to charities 4 times per year. Payments will be made in the first week of the months of January, April, July and October. |
